Proposal:
People in a free society must recognize and resist the modes of oppression in order to protect the free society.
Intent:
Identify the modes of oppression and establish a firm and unwavering intolerance of them.
Discussion:
Modes of oppression are forms of government, societal structures, and behaviors that are antithetical to a free society and to individual liberty.
People who support modes of oppression will use the vocabulary of freedom to describe their behavior such as they are merely exercising their rights and liberties, or that they are fighting for freedom, and they will accuse others of trying to violate their rights and liberties.
The modes of oppression must be recognized because without a cognizance of the real forces at work, people can be persuaded or manipulated into allowing the modes of oppression to expand and eventually destroy the free society.
Note that some modes of oppression involve beliefs in addition to behaviors. The beliefs associated with modes of oppression must be taught in public education to develop resistance and intolerance to them. The behaviors associated with modes of oppression must be taught in public education for the same reason and must also be prohibited by law and enforced by government action.
In alphabetical order, the modes of oppression are:
* Authoritarianism
* Cults
* Domestic violence
* Racism
* Sexism
* Slavery
* Terrorism
When other modes of oppression are identified, they should be added to this list.
