Purpose of Government

The purpose of government is to promote the peace, freedom, and prosperity of the people.

To achieve this purpose, the government must:

* be legitimate; the people must agree on how to form a government and it must be done that way, and not any other way

* be adaptable; the agreement must include under what conditions it can be amended, such as a 2/3 or 4/5 supermajority vote

* respect and protect the rights of the people, and prosecute violations

* enact laws to set boundaries on acceptable behavior, create obligations, and declare possible consequences for violations

* enforce laws to regulate behavior

* coordinate efforts among the people, their institutions, and organizations

* seek out, remove, and prosecute corrupt government officials and employees

* use a fair and just process to resolve conflict between people
