Proposal:
All students should have an opportunity to learn essential mathematics needed for personal finance and home economics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, basic geometry, and more, and how to apply these to income, expenses, savings, loans, and more.
Discussion:
Mathematics is the study of measurement and manipulation of quantities and sets using numbers and symbols.
Students who are interested in achieving more should have an opportunity to learn more advanced mathematics such as geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics, and to test their skills in competition.
To the extent that practice problems involve real-world situations, these situations must not distract from the main learning objective, which is to learn and apply mathematics.
