    Intent

Simplify timekeeping and promote local choices to adopt change of schedule appropriate to the season.

    Proposal

Use constant local time in every time zone.

    Discussion

Legislatures in places that have “Daylight Savings Time” rules should repeal them and restore constant local time for the people in every time zone.

People already have the ability to adopt a different schedule for each season for their household or their own business. Communities already have the ability to adopt a different schedule for each season for public schools and other government offices and services.

“Daylight Savings Time” is a very intrusive policy that requires everyone to have to change their clocks twice a year.

In the United States, states that have “Daylight Savings Time” laws should repeal them and return to using standard time all year long.

In the United States, the federal government does not have to repeal the law relating to “Daylight Savings Time” because it already allows states to opt out and use standard time all year long. However, for the purposes of keeping the law books lean and free of old and useless laws, “Daylight Savings Time” laws should be repealed so there is no requirement for states to use “Daylight Savings Time” at all. If a law is to remain, it should require states to use standard time and prohibit the use of alternative time zones including “Daylight Savings Time”.

Proponents of “Daylight Savings Time” claim that it gives an extra hour of sunlight. However, this is obviously false. The amount of sunlight that reaches the Earth’s surface does not change, and instead we are creating a mass delusion that we are getting up at one hour, for example 8am, when we are really getting up an hour earlier, for example at 7am, and then starting our workday an hour earlier, and then ending our workday an hour earlier. If we want more daylight in our evenings, we can simply choose to get up earlier and finish our work earlier, or get up at the same time and finish work early.
