    Intent

To define the relationship between morals and government regulations.

    Proposal

The government must regulate or prohibit activities to protect the rights of people, to improve safety in activities that are inherently dangerous, or to protect people in situations where there is a clear power imbalance.

    Discussion

The government must operate with the most limited set of morals because it is the baseline for the entire country.

People who don’t want sexual liberty are free to limit themselves to any subset of sexual activity they want to, including no sexual activity at all. People who want sexual liberty want the most they can have. The government has an interest in protecting people and must enact laws regulating behavior, including sex.

Athletes sometimes get hurt in sports yet people still want to play and watch sports. Some regulation may be needed such as requiring safety equipment or requiring or prohibiting some behaviors to lower the risk of injury to players or spectators.

People are injured or killed every year due to motor vehicle accidents even with regulations such as road signs and mandatory seat belts. However, the number of injuries and deaths would be greater without these regulations.

The government must regulate or prohibit activities that are inherently dangerous to improve safety.

The government must regulate or prohibit activities in which one party cannot fully consent or pursue grievances.

The government must regulate or prohibit activities in which there is such a clear power imbalance between the parties.
